A four-step template for investigations is proposed and typical examples of its implementation are discussed. A description of the four steps for verification and validation of numerical methods and codes, which was developed based on the Godunov method, is presented. With the implementation of the differential approximation method, it is shown that the Godunov-Kolgan-Rodionov scheme for curvilinear grids with refinement has first-order accuracy instead of the second-order accuracy. Requirements for the computational grid to provide second-order accuracy are written. Examples that demonstrate the robustness of these conditions are given. The requirements of aeronautical engineering companies for the accuracy of experimental and calculated data are presented. The influence of different factors on the experimental errors is investigated. The problem of the discrepancy in the experimental data obtained in various wind tunnels is considered.
