This paper reports the experimental data on the behavior of temperature distribution and heat transfer in a plasma jet reactor with a linear DC plasma torch for high-temperature mineral fiber and spherical granule production from hard ceramics. The operating DC plasma torch characteristics and heat transfer parameters of the plasma jet reactor are generalized in this work. On the basis of the experimental data the optimal operating parameters of plasma device for hard ceramics fiber production were determined. Correlation for calculation of the Nusselt number has been proposed for a high-temperature flow in the plasma jet reactor.
