INTEGRATED ENERGY ANALYSIS OF SPACE TIME BLOCK CODES FOR ENERGY EFFICIENT RF SENSOR NETWORKS
要約
Optimizing energy consumption is a key objective in designing wireless sensor networks. To increase the lifetime of wireless sensor networks an energy efficient transmission method is required so that energy consumption must be minimized while satisfying given throughput and delay requirements. Cooperative transmission using space-time block code (STBC) can be used to reduce transmission energy consumption for long range communication in wireless sensor networks (WSN). An energy-efficient virtual multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication architecture based on V-BLAST receiver processing is proposed for energy-constrained, distributed wireless sensor networks. Numerical results show that considerable energy saving are offered by the proposed virtual MIMO design in distributed wireless sensor networks. Energy efficiency is analyzed as a tradeoff between the reduced transmission energy consumption and the increased electronic and overhead energy consumption. The result show that with thoughtful choice of design parameters space time block codes can be made to provide considerable energy and delay efficiencies, even after allowing for extra training overheads.
