Schumann resonance measurements were performed at Lehta (Karelia, Russia) during July-August 1998. Three field components were recorded simultaneously, namely, vertical electric and two orthogonal horizontal magnetic components. Data analysis allowed to demonstrate the advantages of monitoring of the thunderstorm activity worldwide from a single observatory. Signal processing exploits the second moments of the spectral components of the fields. It allowed obtaining both the source bearing and diurnal spatial dynamics of the global thunderstorm activity. We explain the peculiarities in diurnal pattern of the source bearing by the night-time (2-3 hr UT) maximum in the thunderstorm activity at Africa. This may reach the 1/3 level of its main afternoon maximum.
