T1 FLOW- AND TEMPERATURE-FIELD VISUALIZATION OF A WINDOW WITH A HEATED LOUVERED BLIND JF Journal of Flow Visualization and Image Processing JO JFV YR 2000 FD 2000-09-01 VO 7 IS 3 OP 12 AB Flow- and temperature-field visualization photographs have been obtained of the free convection about a heated havered blind adjacent to an isothermal vertical plate. This configuration is an approximate model of an indoor window glazing with a Venetian blind that is heated by absorbed solar radiation. Flow visualization photographs were taken using a sheet of laser light and cigarette smoke. Full-field temperature visualization was obtained using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Results have been obtained for three blind slat-angles and three blind heat flux levels, for a constant plate to ambient temperature difference. For the complete range of parameters studied, the results show that the blind has a strong effect on the flow and temperature field near the window surface. The intended application of these results is for the validation of numerical modeling.
