During the acceleration or deceleration process, the liquid plug can be assumed as the developing region of a fully developed flow. The results show that the Nusselt number of a liquid plug during the acceleration or deceleration process is much higher than that in a fully developed region. The model presented herein will be used to explain how an oscillating flow can enhance fluid flow and heat transfer of a liquid plug in an OHP.
