RT Journal Article ID 0dbdfe7c0bec07a2 A1 Greif, Ralph T1 Chemical Vapor Deposition Processes in the Manufacture of Optical Fibers JF International Journal of Fluid Mechanics Research JO FMR YR 1998 FD 1998-12-01 VO 25 IS 4-6 SP 780 OP 789 AB Chemical vapor deposition processes have been used successfully in the fabrication of optical fibers. The fibers are produced by utilizing high temperature reactions which result in the formation of small glassy particles which deposit on a substrate. The details of the procedure depend on the particular optical fiber manufacturing process employed. Thermal, flow and mass transfer aspects of chemical vapor deposition processes relative to different optical manufacturing processes are emphasized in this work.
