Propellant susceptibility to laser operating conditions was also probed. The influence of a pulsed laser system compared to that of a continuous laser beam was examined with the pulsed system providing lower ignition delays. The influence of coated versus noncoated material is explored with the coated material influencing the location of the first light/first gasification line. It also examines the relationship of burning rate and ignitability with higher burning rate materials being easier to ignite than lower burning rate materials.
