ABSTRACT
This research presents the results of microscopic observations and experiments of the feed of Black Sea Noctilluca scintillans (Macartney) Kof. et Swezy on cyanobacteria. For the comparison, flagellate Monochrysis lutheri Droop have been used. For 8 days at 8−10 °C in darkness, Noctiluca showed a minimal rate of division (25% of the initial number for 8 days) with a considerable mortality rate. It is assumed that in winter cyanobacteria can serve as additional food for N. scintillans.
