ABSTRACT

Auricularia polytricha is most popular mushroom found all over the world. In this study, we considered the effect of aqueous extract of A. polytricha (AEAP) in restoration to normal, evaluated by considering sexual behavioral observations, sexual performance as parameters. At 0, 6, 12, 18 and 24 days following parameters were notified before and throughout the sexual performance activity: Mount latency (ML); intromission latency (IL); ejaculation latency (EL); mounting frequency (MF); intromission frequency (IF); ejaculation frequency (EF); postejaculatory interval (PEI). Treatment of under stress rats with AEAP has shown a promising effect in overcoming from stress induced sexual dysfunction, sexual performance and its effect on accessory sexual organs and body weight. ML, IL, EL and PEI parameters were significantly decreased whereas MF, IF and EF were significantly raised by AEAP. These properties were notified in sexually dynamic and indolent male rats. We concluded that aqueous extract of A. polytricha has a potent aphrodisiac activity.
