COMPLEX EXPERIMENTAL TESTS OF THE LONGITUDINAL AERODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CRM MODEL IN THE T-103 WIND TUNNEL BASED AT TsAGI

ABSTRACT

The results of complex experimental tests on the longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics of the NASA Common Research Model of a typical passenger aircraft are presented. They include static tests, forced pitch oscillations with large and small amplitudes and different frequencies, as well as free controlled motion with one degree of freedom in pitch with remotely deflected elevators. The results of mathematical modeling using the traditional linear mathematical model of the aerodynamic characteristics are compared with the experimental data. It can be concluded that a more accurate mathematical model of aerodynamics is needed to describe the nonlinear dynamic effects observed in the tests.
