SPECTRAL INVESTIGATIONS OF ELECTRIC ARC ALTERNATING CURRENT PLASMA GENERATORS WITH POWER TO 600 kW
ABSTRACT
Now the significant attention is given to development of devices for generation of thermal air plasma of atmospheric pressure with electron concentration more than 1012 cm−3 and gas temperature less than 2000 K. There are a lot of areas of this type of plasma applications, and every year their amount increases. Technologies on processing of organic waste are actively developed in last decades. One of the most efficient ways is the high temperature gasification. As a result of gasification process the organic component of waste is transformed to combustible gas, which has a wide spectrum of further application opportunities, the main of which is energy generation. Application of low temperature plasma in these processes according to preliminary evaluations and calculations will allow essential increase of their efficiency, and the use of the plasma generators of the examined type is very promising.
The results of spectral and optical measurements of powerful arc AC plasma generators using air as a working gas are presented in the work. Dependence of temperature in a plasma generator jet of gas flow rate is investigated.
