ABSTRACT

The results of an analysis of the elemental and phase composition, defect substructure, strength and tribological characteristics of hypereutectic silumin before and after irradiation by a highintensity pulse electron beam are presented. The formation of a modified surface layer with the thickness of up to 1000 μm after irradiation has been revealed. The modified layer has enhanced strength and tribological characteristics.
