ABSTRACT

In the Dnieper reservoirs, the concentration of phenol compounds ranged from 180 to 1850 μg/L. The content of these substances in the Dnieper reservoirs depended on their concentration in adjacent water bodies, on the area of shallow-water sections occupied by the thickets of higher aquatic plants, and also on the intensity of development of phytoplankton. The total content of phenol compounds dissolved in the water gradually decreased with distance from the near-dam section of the Kiev reservoir in a south-ward direction. In the Kiev reservoir, the total content of phenol compounds accounted for 551 μg/L, whereas in the Kakhovka reservoir it was 212 μg/L.
