ABSTRACT

Ecological assessment of water and sediments quality of the Opechen lakes system on the basis of toxicological, hydrochemical and sanitary-microbiological studies is presented. It was shown that water and sediments are contaminated mainly by the organic substances, in particular oil products, and demonstrate toxic effect. Partial detoxification of contaminants occurs downstream the cascade. The most polluted lake in the system is Lugove and the least polluted are Kyrylivske and Iordanske.
