ABSTRACT

Toxic effects of Al3+ on the liver cells and neural tissue of pumpkinseed Lepomis gibbosus were studied on the basis of the oxidative stress parameters and state of the cytoskeleton. Chronic impact of aluminum ions in concentration 0.01 mg/cm3 induced oxidative stress and peculiar response of the brain astrocytes. Astrogliosis was shown to be closely associated with development of oxidative stress in the neural tissue. Parameters of oxidative stress and astroglia's response to the toxic effect of Al3+ ions serve as markers of the organism's ability to adapt to worse environmental conditions.
