ABSTRACT

Phytoepiphyton of Potamogeton crispus L. occurring in the main riverbed, and also in additional water bodies, of the river section of the Kanev reservoir was studied for the first time. Bacillariophyta dominated in terms of their numbers and biomass. Cocconeis placentula dominated in the main riverbed, Melosira varians - in Obolon Bay, whereas Staurosira construens - in the Desenka river. The total numbers and biomass of phytoepiphyton, and also the complex of dominant species, depended on the speed of water flow. The quantitative indices of phytoepiphyton development increased with decreasing the speed of water flow. Autochthonous organisms dominated over autochthonous organisms in terms of their species composition, numbers, and biomass.
