ABSTRACT

Results of the comprehensive study of phytoplankton of various water bodies of Kiev (floodplain and isolated lakes, ponds, and bays) suggest that phytoplankton is among reliable biological indices of the ecological state of water bodies of megalopolises according to the EU Water Framework Directive - WFD (2000/60/EC).
