ABSTRACT
The main idea of development of a mathematical model of "wet" snow slide formation is presented based on the fundamental laws of continuum mechanics. The equations of water and heal transfer in snow cover for the spring snow melt period are obtained. These equations differ from conventional ones in that they allow for the dependence of the gravitation potential on the volume content of water in snow cover. The boundary conditions with regard for weather conditions are discussed for the obtained equations. A criterion of downfall of snow under conditions of its total water saturation is obtained.
