ABSTRACT
The synthesis of 3-azido-1,2,4-triazolium 5,5'-azotetrazolate is described. The physical and explosive sensitivity properties of this material were determined. This salt was characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Thermal properties were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The reaction to mechanical stimuli was also determined by small-scale sensitivity testing, small-scale shock reactivity testing, and small-scale internal blast testing.
