METHODS FOR THE CHARACTERIZATION OF BORON

ABSTRACT

For the application of boron in the reactor industry and for pyrotechnical purposes quality assurance regulations only cover the most important physical and chemical parameters. From the producer's point of view it is not sufficient to fulfill only these minimum requirements. It is his intention that the customer should receive a comparable product with each order.
Several methods of examination for the characterization of boron are used for each batch. The examination data are not only for comparison of the measured values of previous deliveries but also for statistic quality assurance control. Hereby we can prove that a constant quality will be obtained over a long production period. The examination methods of boron and the results of the statistic quality control are the basis for this paper.
