ABSTRACT

The article presents the first observations of the long-term (~400 days) of vibrational relaxation of atomic displacements under the impact of the electric shock in the class of nonmetallic substances. The phenomenon was found in the crystalline multiferroic BiFeO3 at T = 293 K by the method of Mossbauer spectroscopy on nuclei 57Fe. The electronic structure of BiFeO3 under the conditions of the experiment was calculated and the relation between electronic and elastic properties of the material is shown.
