ABSTRACT

The flow field of a supersonic free jet is investigated both experimentally and numerically. Acetone planar laser-induced fluorescence (acetone PLIF) is used for visualizing cross sections of the flow field and measuring the density distribution quantitatively. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with a two-dimensional axisymmetric numerical code is used for investigating the details of the flow field. The experimental and numerical results are compared to validate the quantitative measurement.
