Laboratory studies of a new method of microparticle separation from a liquid in a gravity field
ABSTRACT
The physical realizability of a new method of microparticle separation from liquids is checked in the present paper. The main points of the proposed method of separation are studied, and the ranges of operational parameters of the developed device are defined on a laboratory model of one layer of a separator. Confirmed experimentally is a supereffect of separation of the solid particles from the liquid, which allows increasing at least three times the separator performance without quality loss in the presence of the layer slope of φ = 20 deg. Based on the results obtained, we make a prediction about the characteristics of the full-scale variant of the separator to select small coal particles of density ρ = 1400 kg/m3 and characteristic sizes within the range from 0.03 mm to 0.3 mm (the most probable size being 0.1 mm by mass fraction of particle) from the water.
