VISUALIZATION OF A SUBSONIC JET WITH ACOUSTIC EXCITATION

ABSTRACT

Results of visualization studies of a low-speed turbulent jet from a circular 20-mm-diameter nozzle upon a longitudinal acoustic excitation within a frequency range of 0.125 ≤ Sts ≤ 2.5 are presented. Jet velocity u0 = 20 m/s, and the initial turbulence on the jet axis does not exceed 1%. Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of coherent structures in the turbulent jet upon acoustic effect are obtained
