Electrostatic Potential Distribution in Eccentric Cylindrical Channel with Tubular Electron Beam

ABSTRACT

Analysis of electrostatic potential distribution over the cross section of the equipotential cylindrical channel containing a tubular electronic beam is carried out, with both coaxial and non-coaxial layout of the outer and inner electrodes. It is shown that a smooth variation of the channel width does not allow to form any effective ("narrow" and "deep") natural ionic trap in azimuth direction with small loss of the beam current.
