Analysis of Efficient Methods to Build Transport Infrastructure of Territorial- and Regional-Scale Corporate Telecommunication Networks
ABSTRACT
Analysis was made of various network technologies from the viewpoint of their efficiency for building trunk lines of departmental telecommunication networks of territorial and regional scale, and for organization of "the last mile" in connecting the networks of subordinated organizations and entities to the trunk network. Network technologies are compared on a basis of a set of criteria devised below, including the cost/performance indicator, broad scale-up possibilities, capability to ensure the QoS, controllability, compatibility with LAN technologies, and some other criteria. A conclusion is made on the results of the analysis that the utmost solution is to use the Ethernet family technologies (operating over SDH in case of region-extent channels) in combination with MPLS, VPN and xDSL technologies (for "the last mile" organization).
