RADIO ACOUSTIC SOUNDING SYSTEMS: PART 1. THE DIFFRACTION PROBLEM FOR A BISTATIC ZONE
ABSTRACT
There are a number of problems that prevent the implementation of the radio acoustic sounding method in meteorological measuring practice. Among them is a lack of a rigorous solution of the diffraction by an artificial reflector formed by the spaceâ€limited beam of acoustic waves. The general solution of this problem is very cumbersome. Current work is concerned with conditions and approaches of solving this problem. The possible approximations that are derived from the theory of antennas have been shown. Preliminary results of the diffraction problem in a bistatic zone have been presented. In particular, it was demonstrated the change in the level of the received signal as a height function of sounding.
