azimuthal oscillations
The results of experimental investigations into the resonance features of the high azimuthal electromagnetic oscillations of HE and EH type in the composite dielectric disk resonator (CDDR) for the millimeter wavelength band are given. The CDDR consists of a dielectric disk resonator (DDR) and an auxiliary dielectric disk the diameter of which exceeds the DDR diameter and the permittivity of the auxiliary disk is less than that of the DDR.

The approximation of the multiple Fresnel diffraction in half-planes has been applied to analyze specific features of microwave source location over the sea with wind waves at the small grazing angles and low altitudes. It has been proven that the present model conforms to the experimental data on measuring the transmitter elevation at the altitudes comparable with the sea wave height.

metallic unclosed screen
Electromagnetic backscattering measurement results for metallic unclosed spherical screens with changing the probing signal frequency in the range from 26.2 to 38.4 GHz are presented. The radii and aperture of a spherical segment were equal to 18.08 mm and 12.55 mm, respectively. The sample was made by extrusion of aluminum foil with a thickness of 0.15 mm. Frequency dependences of the normalized radar cross-section (RCS) were obtained for excitation of a thin spherical screen along the axis. A comparison between experimental data and known theoretical calculations for RCS is made. Backscattering behavior is studied in the wide range of frequencies and incidence angles.

Computer-assisted simulations are described of microwave mixers implemented on the basis of Ge-, Si- and GaAs p−n junctions. The mathematical model involves equations of the drift-diffusion model of semiconductor devices. The drift-diffusion model equations are solved using the modified counter-sweep method. The operation principle of the mixer is analyzed. The physical nature of signal distortions has been identified. The amplification factor, as well as the gain characteristic and frequency response have been calculated. Frequency spectra and phases of the output signals of the Ge-, Si- and GaAs-based p−n junctions are presented.

The distribution of nonequilibrium minority charge carrier lifetime τnp in the depth of single-crystal silicon wafers was investigated by the improved method of stationary photoconduction decrease and by the standard method of photoconduction decay. The wafers of p- and n-type conduction used in hardware products for the electronic engineering were tested. To increase τnp in the near-surface regions the wafers were subjected to the gettering annealing and deep chemical etching. Basing on the comparative analysis of resulting τnp values it is proposed to use silicon wafers treated by chemical etching as master dies for domestic manufacture of alternative high-performance multijunction photovoltaic converters with vertical diode cells.

The present paper describes the results from the study into an autodyne 8-mm wave "transmit-receive module", otherwise called a transceiver for a short-range linear FM radar sensor. This module is designed to measure the range of objects (targets) and their velocity. The transceiver is built around the Gunn diode with varactor frequency tuning capabilities. The internal signal detection is performed using a current sensor in the Gunn diode power supply circuit. The above system serves the purpose of employing the methods for digital generation of a radiated signal, spectral processing and digital frequency-difference signal filtering.

Color video algorithm, which permits to convert 2D video sequence to 3D one, is presented. Optical flow approach based on differential technique and warping theory is used, obtaining the disparity estimation from two frames in a color video sequence, and finally, the estimation of the depth map. Formed depth map is employed in construction of 3D video sequence by means of an anaglyph employment. The depth map manipulation via P-th law compression is used permitting to avoid ghosting in anaglyph synthesis. The results of the proposed 3D reconstruction method are compared with the same obtained by Photoshop algorithm demonstrating better performance of the proposal. Numerous simulation experiments with several color video sequences have confirmed good visual performance of novel framework in reconstruction of 3D sequences.
