Data about invasion of the different invertebrates and Actinopterygian fish species into the surface water bodies of Ukraine and outside its territory, as well as material on spreading of the autochthonous species in the inland water bodies have been generalized. The critical analysis of the results of introduction and acclimatization of the valuable allochthonous species in the water bodies is given. Differentiation of the invasive invertebrates and Actinopterygian fish species of Ukraine into three groups according their adaptation potential has been suggested.

The publication is dealt with the study of biodiversity of the near-bottom zooplankton of the shallow water zone of the Kiev reservoir. The peculiarities of its composition, development, and structure were studied both in the thickets of higher aquatic plants and in the sections free of vegetation prior to the accident at the Chernobyl NPS and after it. It has been found that the near-bottom zooplankton of the shallow water zone essentially differed from that occurring in the deep water zone and in the surface layer of water of the littoral and pelagic zones. The obtained results made it possible to conclude that the accident at the Chernobyl NPS did not exert an adverse effect on the community of zooplankton because the intensity of radiation was not higher than its threshold degree, whereas zooplankton organisms are extremely tolerant to the influence of radiation.

The state of components of the river ecosystems was assessed on the basis of results of hydrochemical and hydrobiological investigations of the Belous river and of the Desna river (from the town of Chernigov to its estuary). Ecological risks conditioned by the spill of sewage of the town of Chernigov into water courses were determined.

Results of the study of organic matter decomposition in the water of the cascade of ponds of the Aleksandriya park carried out in 2004−2006 are given in the paper. In the studied ponds, the content of mineral nitrogen was closely similar to that registered in hypertrophic water bodies. Relationship was established between the intensity of organic matter decomposition and the concentration of mineral nitrogen.

Comparative studies on hematological characteristics of the peripheral blood in 5 Antarctic fish species of the families Nototheniidae, Bathydraconidae and Channichthyidae have been carried out. Distinctions in ratios between different leucocytes fractions in different species have been defined. Investigations of the erythrocytes component of the peripheral blood in different Antarctic fish species show considerable differences in form, size and erythrocytes' differentiation levels.

The toxicity of the herbicide "Norvel" (active component -quizalofop-p-ethyl, 50 g/L) for guppies Poecilla reticulatus, carps Cyprinus carpio, water fleas Daphnia magna and Ceriodaphnia affinis in the acute experiments has been investigated. Given herbicide causes narcotic and neuroparalytic effect on the test-objects mainly during the first day of the experiment. Ineffective concentrations for fish were 0.2-0.001 mg/L, for D. magna - 0.1 mg/L, for C. affinis - 0.001 g/L. Herbicide "Norvel" can be considered as toxic and very toxic for the investigated test-objects.
Accumulation of 137Cs by Silurus Glanis L. in Water Bodies of the Kiev Region after the Accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station
86-98
10.1615/HydrobJ.v44.i3.70
The content of 137Cs in the tissues of Silurus glanis occurring in the cooling pond of the Chernobyl NPS, in the Pripyat river, and in the Kanev reservoir was studied in 1986-2005. Positive "dimensional effect" in the accumulation of 137Cs was established. The maximum averaged content of 137Cs (100 kBq/kg) was registered in the muscles of Silurus glanis occurring in the cooling pond of the Chernobyl NPS in 1988. Since that time the content of 137Cs in fishes of all the studied water bodies decreases. hi recent years the rate of the decrease in the content of 137Cs in the tissues of Silurus glanis essentially decreased. The maximum concentration factor of 137Cs was observed after 8-10 years after the accident at the Chernobyl NPS.
