Large-scale vortices shed from a rectangular cylinder confined in channel
RÉSUMÉ
The present paper describes the turbulent structure of large-scale vortices shed periodically from a rectangular cylinder by using a stereo-PIV. Experimental data were analyzed in terms of the triple decomposition and the phase-averaged velocity statistics as well as the time-averaged ones were presented. In addition, the pressure field was evaluated by solving the Poisson equation with the measured PIV data and compared with the λ2-criteria proposed to identify a coherent vortex. The large-scale vortices (vortex pair) induce the wall-ward flow between them and their characteristics were discussed from the viewpoint of the heat transfer enhancement in this flow configuration.
