RÉSUMÉ
The overall perspective on heat transfer in safety aspects of LWR systems is discussed. The importance of the secondary side performance and of the ultimate heat rejection capability is highlighted. By extending Michelson's method of analysis, the modeling of two-phase level behavior is shown to be necessary. Several examples of this methodology are given, ranging from natural circulation to reactor core uncovery.
