RÉSUMÉ

In this paper the CHF of a square-arranged nine-rod cluster, cooled by pressurized water flowing vertically upwards is studied. The influence of honey-comb type spacer grid on CHF is also evaluated.
The outside diameter of the electrically heated rod was 10 no and the pitch of the rods was 13.3 mm. The cluster was uniformly heated in both radial and axial directions. The heated lengths were 0.8 and 1.1 m. Experiments were done under the following conditions:

    pressure - 14.7 KPa
    _ _ mass veloclty - 1.1 × 103 − 2.78 × 103 Kg/m2s
    quality - −0.2 − +0.1
    inlet water temperature - 190 − 310 °C

There were 88 data points obtained in total. Data processing was performed by "average method", i.e., the results were referred to the averaged parameters at the cross-section. An empirical correlation for CHF is proposed by the authors from their experiment results. The experiment results are also compared with two CHF correlations by other authors.
