Résumé

The aim of this paper is to compare two realistic evaporation models, namely, the Abramzon-Sirignano model, which represents a so-called equilibrium model, and the non-equilibrium Langmuir-Knudsen model. These models were coupled to the Direct Quadrature-based Sectional Method of Moments (DQbSMOM) to numerically simulate dilute evaporating spray systems. The complete models were successfully evaluated in terms of droplet mean diameters, droplet number concentration and droplet flux as well as droplet velocity components in a Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) based framework using the so-called "Sydney spray burner". Even though the presented models deliver slightly similar results, the non-equilibrium model seems to be more performant under the presented operating conditions.
