RÉSUMÉ
Nanofluids have gained significant interest as alternative heat carriers. Even more, their application in heat pipes, oscillating heat pipes, and thermosyphons indicates an increase of the transferable amount of heat. Here we report the application of a low concentrated gold nanofluid in a thermosyphon. The general finding is that the negative effect of instantaneous boiling due to not enough heat being provided at the evaporator, the so-called geyser effect, is prevented when the gold nanofluid is employed as working fluid. Once continuous boiling is reached, the amount of transferred heat employing pure water or gold nanofluid is nearly the same.
