RÉSUMÉ

Flows over weapon bays with several sawtooth spoilers are simulated using improved delayed detached eddy simulation (IDDES) and the performance of five sawtooth spoiler control devices is evaluated. All control devices show significant acoustic noise and pressure fluctuations reduction by lifting the shear layer and reducing the energy it carries in the rear half of the weapon bay. Comparisons of different control devices suggest that the sawtooth is more effective if the total height of spoiler is greater than or equal to the local boundary layer thickness of clean model. The tooth angle is also found to be an important factor to the acoustic suppression. Spoilers with an acuter tooth angle have better performance.
