Résumé

The problem discussed is how to calculate the shapes of the probability-density functions which characterise the turbulent fluctuations within a 'fully-stirred reactor'. This is an idealisation of the paddle-stirred reactor used in chemical-process industry; and of the combustion chamber of a gas-turbine engine. Its defining characteristic is having the same time-average state of the fluid mixture at every location within it.
