AB Four epiphytic and partly endophytic species of the brown algal genus <i>Ectocarpus</i> Lyngb. were collected from the coastal areas near Karachi in the northern Arabian Sea and taxonomically investigated. This is the first report of their occurrence from the coast of Pakistan. Suggestions have been made about the taxonomy of <i>Ectocarpus</i>.
