It is shown that the Mach waves generate a longitudinal quasi-steady wake propagating in the boundary layer at large distances from the plate leading edge. The wake structure is considered in detail. The numerical results agree well with the known experimental data for mass flow disturbances measured in the T-325 supersonic wind tunnel at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk, Russia).
