RÉSUMÉ

The author proposes the new term "algosozology" for a developing branch of phytosozology (plant conservation science) which is devoted to conservation of algae. Algophytosozology can be segregated into two basic subdivisions - autalgosozology and synalgosozology. Among urgent tasks of algosozological investigations are: development of principles and procedure of sozological categorization of algal species; generalization, updating and analysis of data about rare and/or endangered species; compilation of annotated Red Lists of species, and also lists of their favorable habitats in specific regions; establishment of algoreservations within the limits of protected areas on the previously developed system of principles; organization of their eco-sozological monitoring, etc. Development of theoretical and methodological principles of populational algology, as one of the subdivisions of populational biology, is crucial for further development of algosozological investigations.
