RÉSUMÉ

In the present study, the loss coefficients of hydraulic parameters for a centrifugal pump are experimentally investigated. To this end, a centrifugal pump was installed in a closed loop hydraulic circuit. To understand the effect of viscosity on the performance of centrifugal pump, experiments were conducted for three different working liquids; water and two industrial viscous liquids. On the basis of the experimental data, the pump head, outlet power and efficiency were calculated. And the complete characteristic curves of the centrifugal pump were obtained for water as well as viscous liquids. Finally, by means of a statistical software and based on the available data, several correlations for hydraulic parameters have been suggested. These correlations, makes it possible to predict the behavior of the aforementioned pump in the new pumping condition, when handling a viscous liquid. The dominant feature of these correlations is that just by entering the kinematic viscosity of the fluid, the values of head, inlet power and efficiency for any arbitrary flow rate can be estimated.
