DESIGN AND CHARACTERIZATION OF TWIN-FLUID Y-JET ATOMIZERS
RÉSUMÉ
Two Y-jet atomizers have been tested using water and two different mineral oils that have the same physical properties as heavy fuel oils (HFO) employed in industrial burners. It has been found that the two-phase flow inside the nozzle can be described by a simplified momentum balance relative to the gas phase. This equation can be used for design purposes. Mean dropsize has been correlated in terms of dimensionless numbers related to the physical properties of the two-phase mixtures and to the operating conditions.
