THE CONTROLLING EFFECT OF SYNTHETIC JETS ON THE FLOW AROUND A RECTANGULAR WING AT SPEEDS CLOSE TO TAKEOFF AND LANDING SPEEDS
RÉSUMÉ
Experimental studies on the impact of a synthetic jet actuator on the aerodynamic characteristics and flow pattern around a rectangular wing with a NACA 0012 airfoil at free stream velocities close to the takeoff and landing flight mode speeds of an aircraft have been carried out for the range of Reynolds numbers Re = 0.3−1.0 × 106. The actuator efficiency for these speed modes was provided by increasing the synthetic jet momentum due to an increase in the maximum amplitude of the voltage supplied by synthetic jet generators and a change in the number of outflow holes from one to three in each generator. It is shown that synthetic jet generators located inside the separation zone significantly affect the occurring flow separation on the wing at low Reynolds numbers. When the synthetic jet generators are located in front of the separation zone, they are capable of eliminating the flow separation at speeds up to 50 m/s, which allows increasing the maximum lift coefficient.
