ANALYTICAL MODEL OF EJECTOR-TYPE ACTUATOR OPERATING UNDER STEADY AND PULSE CONDITIONS

RÉSUMÉ

The characteristics of a device previously proposed by the authors, which is employed as an effective way to control the wing flow over a wide range of flight velocities, are investigated. This device is an ejector-type actuator, which is mounted on the wing and is used to simultaneously perform boundary layer suction from the upper wing surface and jet blowing at the trailing wing edge. This actuator can operate both in the steady regime using the steady excess pressure of high-pressure gas and in the pulse regime using the electrical discharges to improve the actuator characteristics. An analytical model of the actuator operating in the steady regime, which is generalized further to the pulse regime of operation, is proposed. The mathematical model based on the Reynolds equations proposed by the authors and the experimental data are used to verify the analytical model in both the steady and pulse regimes.
