APPLICATION OF RAMAN SCATTERING TECHNIQUE TO CRYOGENIC FLOW INJECTION UNDER SUBCRITICAL TO SUPERCRITICAL CONDITIONS
RÉSUMÉ
In order to enable flow visualization, a Raman scattering technique was applied to a liquid nitrogen jet flow within a high-pressure chamber. The pressure conditions ranged from 2.0 MPa to 5.0 MPa, thereby encompassing the critical pressure of nitrogen at 3.4 MPa. From cryogenic flow under subcritical and supercritical conditions, a Raman scattering signal was emitted with an intensity proportional to the density of nitrogen molecules. After the normalization process, the signal was converted into relative density values used for spray characteristic analysis. The relative density distributions in the axial and radial directions were reproduced for various analytical purposes. The width of the spray at different positions and self-similarities were studied to provide information that would contribute to the understanding of cryogenic flow characteristics under harsh conditions.
