Exact Solution of the Energy Equation for a Turbulent Steam-Drop Flow in a Tube

RÉSUMÉ

A turbulent steam flow with dispersed drops of saturated liquid is analyzed. The assumptions are that drops in the viscous sublayer are absent, and a set of drops with the same (characteristic) diameter corresponds to each transverse coordinate in the turbulent core. The effect of the dispersed phase (drops) on the heat transfer between the channel wall and the continuous phase (steam) is reduced to heat sinks spread over the whole steam volume. A model of turbulence is chosen to be the concept of the mixing path length in the Prandtl two-layer scheme. An exact analytical solution of the energy equation for the steam flow is obtained. It follows from the solution that the heat-transfer rate can be raised under the action of the drop-induced heat sinks.
