RÉSUMÉ

The data on the in situ ingestion rates in marine planktonic copepods (Copepoda) in different regions of the World Ocean are discussed. The allometric equations were developed and applied to estimate 24-hour rations of 32 species of copepods within the temperature range of (-1) — (+22)°C. Under natural conditions, the rations are in proportion to the phytoplankton concentrations, although the factors determining the upper limit of food consumption by copepods (satiation) remain unknown. The equations to describe the feeding rates at the temperature ranges of 8—15°C and 15—22°C in the laboratory experiments are suitable also for analyzing the data obtained on naturally fed copepods.
