RÉSUMÉ

Investigations of periphytic algae vegetating in the cooling pond of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station (NPS) after the accident have been carried out. It has been found that periphytic algae occurred widely, were highly diverse in their species composition and abundant in the cooling pond. A total of 128 species of periphytic algae belonging to five divisions was found in the cooling pond in 1995. Community dominants were blue-green, filamentous green algae, and diatoms. Periphytic algae with morphological anomalies have been found.
