Sensitivity of Stylonychia mytilus to Flotation Reagent PA-14

RÉSUMÉ

Infusorian Stylonychia mytilus shows elevated sensitivity to low (0.00005−0.001 mg/l) and high (from 0.50 mg/l) concentration of the amine-contained flotation reagent PA-14. Relative resistance to mediate (0.01−0.40 mg/l) concentration is explained by adaptation to toxic natural amines, which are contained in the surface water bodies in the same limits. Obtained results can serve as a basis to review established MPC (maximal permissible concentration) of PA-14 (0.003 mg/l) and methodology of MPC calculation on the whole.
