Method for Measuring the Refractive Index to Control a Manufacturing Process of Optical Fibers

RÉSUMÉ

A method for determining a refractive index of an optical fiber preform using the principles of light scattering phenomenon is proposed. The measurement process consists in determining the scattering indicatrix for the preform of the fiber core. It is shown that the scattering indicatrix uniquely defines the value of the refractive index, and the application of scattering principles significantly expands the measurement range.
